Anglezarke Amble February 12th

24 miles, of all that Great Hill, Winter Hill & Darwen Tower can throw at you. Not officially a fell race, but a long distance walk. However many fell runners don't hang around. It looks like Paula & Alan didn't either.

Climbing Great Hill along

 our Handicap Route.

Spot the trees? This part is steep,

but they look like they're smiling.

They are, despite the gales!

Now on the move, descending Winter Hill. Still smiling?

Yes, & still blowing a gale.

This is what Pete Benson wrote about their performance:-

Paula Homan finished the Anglezarke amble in just over 6 hours. The conditions were gale force winds, intermittent driving rain and hail, and very boggy underfoot.
Paula has only been running for about 12 weeks she came to the Ladies Wed group, she is in the London Marathon and I thought this event would be a great confidence booster for the marathon. Paula has run in 3 Mid Lancs x country races for the Ladies team.
Commitment and determination, with no shortage of talent will enable Paula to achieve whatever she wants to achieve.  I hope she falls in love with the fells.
Alan Appleby was a great companion and inspiration for Paula on this arduous task, as he is to all of us.

Paula you did very well, and all of the gang would be very happy if you joined us on the fells. In fact Alan's got us all feeling jealous. I thought I was doing well last week with my high mileage, then you go and beat my whole week in one day!

Anyone like to see more of Paula? There are many more exclusive pictures amongst my tedious ramblings of last week. Press Paula to see them.
