Bleasdale Circle
Our 2005 championship began on a chilly day in Bleasdale, the surrounding Bowland fells coated in snow but undeterred 13 harriers braved the elements as we lined up outside the school for this tough local race. Fantastic to see Sarah doing the race, I hope she continues and more ladies join us on the fells.
At 11am we set off up the road and across the boggy fields towards Higher Fair Snape Farm, fastest harrier out of the blocks was John Griffiths who lead to the bottom of the very steep climb up Fair Snape Fell towards Paddy’s Pole. Here he was passed by Gordon “ I’ll do well to beat Pete today “ Thompson. Everyone’s fitness, or lack of it, is tested on this climb but once around the cairn it’s fast running on familiar ground to the Fell gate before the runnable climb to the top of Parlick.
From here you turn right and descend steeply towards Blindhurst Farm and once throught the farm it’s a mad dash across the fields, which seems to take forever, to the finish on the football pitch in Bleasdale. This is an excellent race and well organised by Bowland Fell Runners. We even picked up some prizes, Sarah Gohil 2nd lady, Mick Mcloughlin 3rd Vet 50 and Ken Taylor 3rd Vet 60. Thanks to Bob Shepherd and Ben Higginson, though injured, came and supported. That’s one down and 11 to go!

Report from Chairman Mclau. At whose request, nay command, I am gradually making the writing legible. (Bigger).
The photographs are presented in the positions in the race after half a mile & at the wooden bridge, 600 yards to go.
From behind the lens, I think the only change of position between the bridge & the finish was by Joe & Brian. I put the No 270 George Arnold in from Preston AC, because he has nobody else to support him! Apologies for lens blur due to rain. I also put the Bleasdale Football Pitch in between outgoing & homecoming. They're not playing at home this week. Bigger pictures are available if you want. Sorry to Jim for poor pictures.
Well done Sara Gohil, a great race. Pre race, Sara said she was a lady in a lady's race................I'm wondering if I should come out & declare myself as the only gay mayor in the village of Riley Green.
Sarah had a dream........Always a good and competitive road, xc or track runner, woke up remembering her dream. She remembered being guided by Jos Naylor along high ridges, beautiful peaks, Lakeland's Sunny valleys, Sunni's Lakeland Peaks, as she was waking, Joe was saying let's Gohills..........
